In this blog post we provide a solution to a problem everyone can relate to:
Open jars of chutneys and other condiments at the back of the top shelf in your fridge.
Guilty as charged!
Although preserves and pickles tend to last way beyond their best before date, it's good to free up space, but there is no need to throw away the last quarter of a jar. Instead, chuck them in a toastie, an omelette or better still, have a try of our simple but delicious Cheesy Chutney Tarts!

A simple, but delicious way to use up your open jars hiding at the back of your fridge or condiment cupboard (we are all guilty!)
Place a square of pastry on the baking sheet. Put a cube of cheese (about 20g but we didn’t weigh it!) and a teaspoonful of Calder’s Kitchen Chutney or Pickle.
Fold the corners in to make a parcel. Seal the edges by brushing the top with egg.
Do this with all of the squares with an assortment of different combinations of cheese and chutney/pickle.
And look like this…
We served these with a salad on the side but they are perfect as a snack on their own with a cold beer.
We found they were great heated up the next day in the air fryer for about 3 minutes.
