Calder's Kitchen was formed by husband and wife team Andrew and Anne-Marie Calder in 2015. We started making Piccalilli in our family kitchen after discovering Andrew's late Granddad, Charlie's favourite family recipe and deciding to 'give it a go'.
After quickly realising Charlie's classic, traditional take on Piccalilli was vastly different from modern day mainstream versions we developed our own Chillililli (piccalilli with a sweet chilli glow) and deliciously Indian spiced Sillylilli.
We now work with around 130 SME Food & Drinks retailers across the UK, many of them small to medium sized independent food & drink shops, deli's, butchers, pubs and restaurants.
We are committed to helping our customers make a good profit and to helping push sales by providing recipe's, seasonal gifts, samples for in store tastings and discounts to run promotions and deals.
All of our products are Vegan friendly, low in fat and gluten free.

Description:
Our award-winning Piccalilli was based on Grandad Charlie's traditional recipe. Each jar is packed full of crunchy vegetables with a perfect balance of sweetness and pickle. It's the way piccalilli used to be, a wonderfully versatile pickle that can be enjoyed all year around.
How to use it:
As a rule you can’t go wrong with anything cheese related; cheeseboard, afternoon tea, sandwiches & toasties. Also great with cooked meats or sausages. Equally enjoyable with fish, vegetables, and vegan food. Ideal for the perfect summer ploughman’s lunch.
What else:
Our founder, Andrew’s grandad Charlie used to make this original piccalilli from his own grown vegetables. A favourite lunchtime snack back in the day were what Charlie called ‘Cheese Dreams’. A classic cheese and piccalilli sandwich toasted under the grill. The beauty is in the simplicity - give it a try!

Zero / Mild
Calder’s Kitchen top tip:
Use up your Sunday leftovers by adding our Traditional Piccalilli to a roast beef sandwich or add to your favourite salad bowl

Description:
Sillylilli is a unique product to Calder’s Kitchen. Based on Grandad Charlie's traditional recipe and packed full of crunchy vegetables, Sillylilli has been described by some as Piccalilli with attitude! That said, there is a very good balance between heat and flavour meaning you can enjoy the taste of an outrageously good pickle while getting your chilli fix. Contains Scotch Bonnet, Habanero and a hot madras curry base. One for the curry and spice lovers!
How to use it:
Use Calder’s Kitchen Sillylilli to revolutionise your grilled cheese sandwich and we guarantee you’ll never look back! Or enhance your poppadum pickle tray by serving alongside mango chutney & lime pickle. Like it’s milder cousin Sillylilli will pimp up a burger, make a very acceptable omelette filler or can be smothered over chips or potato wedges as a late night snack.
What’s in the name?
Sillylilli was born, very late one night in the Calder’s family Kitchen. The name came about after Mrs Calder tired it from the pan and exclaimed, ‘it’s too hot Andrew, you would have to be quite silly to eat it!’ Although she wasn’t so good with spice at the time it was a lightbulb moment and thankfully the name stuck. Fast forward a few short years and Sillylilli enjoys a cult following, due to it’s amazing taste and slightly quirky name. And Mrs Calder is even known on occasion to enjoy it on a slice of cheese on toast!
Chilli rating:
Hot
Calder’s Kitchen top tip:
Make a ridiculously simple, but delicious coronation chicken sauce by adding to mayonnaise and throwing in a sprinkling of sultanas. Go meat free by using The Vegetarian Butcher’s ‘What the Cluck’ chicken or Quorn pieces. See our recipe section for the full recipe.
